2/11/01 12:00 noon Hotel de la Soledad, Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico
I'm at an internet cafe. I am writing this to floppy and transferring again. Hopefully Flavio and I can call a local ISP for dial-up service from our room.
Our bags are at Soledad but we can't check in until 1:00 so I'm using the time to write.
Marcella took the digital camera with her for the day and all the developing places are closed today so no pictures.
Miguel called his family at the hotel several times, crying. They will see him briefly today to boost his morale. I fell sorry for the kids whose parents aren't here. In the long term they will get more out of it since they won't depend on us so much but right now it's scary for them.
It's hard to remember that the chaperone's experience is very different from our kid's. I must remember to empathize with them when I see them. What's fun for us is disorienting and frightening for them at the moment. I think they will all do better when school starts tomorrow.
